The way things are headed in America ever since Jan. 20, 2017, I’m not sure that I’d WANT to bring a baby in the world! Of course, in my case, that’s a moot point…
So? People can’t afford children, and this generation of children is the first which won’t be ABLE to do better than their parents, thanks to income inequality, unless they were born rich already (and as #45 has made plain, you can screw that up, too).
EVERY industrialized nation began going into a birthrate decline as soon as they reached a certain level. Some would say that is good, as we have dodged the overpopulation bullet. Many of the reasons for this are positive: higher education, the ability for women to control their fertility and their destinies, later marriages (which then of course last longer and have more mature parents), etc. All things which the GOP seems to want to eliminate, presumably to provide a dirt-poor, ill-educated workforce of virtual slaves…
One thing the “virtual community” does is cut down on actual “face” to “face” encounters… Even if you’re already living together: According to some reports, the single most effective way to cut the birthrate in unconnected areas is to provide easy access to TV.

Wages and pay for the vast majority of us haven’t risen in 35+ years, so why is this result a surprise?
PS: If we would like to a vital economy, then immigrants are necessary.

Good thing, too. Don’t forget the population is now in excess of 7 billion.

Americans get no birth leave from a job, there is no free baby sitting like in many countries.

A model predicts that the world’s populations will stop growing in 2050
This depends on economic growth and education, especially for girls, in the poorest countries.
