Anti-vaxxers sacrifice their children on the germ-infested altar of conspiracy theories founded on a discredited, fraudulent “study” that has since been recanted, and that are pushed and promoted by Russians in St Petersburg bent on wreaking havoc and chaos in the United States. Correction — they sacrifice their children AND a whole lot of OTHER PEOPLE’s children.
The NRA and the gun manufacturers, and the gullible scam victims who sucker for their POOPaganda (or whatever inadequacies they are compensating for) sacrifice their children on the blood-stained altar of NRA and gun manufacturer corporate profits. Correction — they sacrifice their children AND a whole lot of OTHER PEOPLE’s children.
The anti-vaxxers just know that if their children survive, they will be stronger and even more protected, but Gosh, Golly, and Gee Whiz, ain’t that what the Darwin Awards are all about?
I suppose that’s a fair equivalency. If you don’t believe in the vast science that underlies vaccines, you may well be gullible enough to believe that giving guns to children makes you safer.
Most Americans and most NRA members favor stricter gun control laws. (69% of NRA members favor comprehensive background checks: http://time.com/5197807/stricter-gun-laws-nra/)
At least 14,611 Americans were killed by guns last year by a conservative estimate, which was, shockingly, a decline. Most of them were suicides, because while many other forms of committing suicide allows someone to survive or reconsider, the “success” rate with guns is very, very high. (https://www.thetrace.org/2019/01/gun-deaths-2018-america-mass-shootings-suicide/)
The CDC rate, which some have questioned, is around 39,000, which puts it comparable to car accident deaths, which are around 40,000 per year. Note that there is far more use of cars than guns on average, which means that guns are far, far more dangerous — considering how many of the deaths are accidents, children, suicides, etc — and would benefit from common-sense restrictions used by most countries in the world. (https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2018/02/16/480956.htm)
And for those who want to claim this cannot be changed: it can. The interpretation of the Second Amendment changed; it is just as possible to have legal restrictions on it as there is on the First Amendment. Australia introduced tougher laws and saw mass murders drop. Restrictions on ammunition sales could work without restricting gun sales at all. There are LOTS of ways to do this.
And I just read this morning that a Cleveland cop’s 4yo son got hold of a loose gun in the house & accidentally shot & killed himself. If a cop can’t keep his gun locked up safely, what does that say about the average ammosexual?
You know, if you point out often enough that mumps can travel “lower down” it MIGHT could spur a few of the crazed anti-vaxx people to vaccinate their children. Probably only their boys, however…….
When dinosaurs were just getting started and I was young, we boys were encouraged to learn to use BB guns and, if we wished, a 22. Complete with the “Don’t put out your (brother’s) eye!” lecture. (The girls weren’t encouraged, and in any case my sisters showed no interest). Plinking at beer (or in our case soda) cans was allowed, but only with a good backdrop. I grew up in “cowboy country” and most everybody had a rifle in the back window of their truck. There wasn’t a pistol or semi-automatic anywhere in the county (that I knew of) except that cops carried a holstered pistol. It’s very very different now. But my (grand and great-grand) kids may still come over and plink if they want to cope with grampa being anal about safety.

Hate to say it but that looks like the reaction some of these dummies would have.

If only the southern states applied the same zeal in fighting this stupidity as they did fighting women’s rights to their bodies.

This will actually work … if the kid guns down his parents and gets adopted by people who’ll have him vaccinated. /sarcasm
