The original sales pitch for cable TV (and later for satellite) was there would be enough bandwidth to have a channel for every interest. Channels for ballet, classical music, learning a foreign language, chess, art appreciation… And what did we get? Never-ending reruns, hoary old movies, scammy shopping channels, fake reality shows, and multiple 24 hour TV preachers spouting hell and damnation. What a rip.
