I know Pennsylvania is an aging state when so many of Mr. Brookins ideas are coming from those who live here. Should PA be flattered or concerned? We will enjoy laughing at ourselves, anyway.

This 72-year old plugger took up yoga exercise last year and found that it really did help. I sat in a job for 30+ years with irregular bouts of exercise. I was worried about my balance and flexibility and found a yoga therapist who set up a series of exercises that has helped me regain strength in some forgotten muscles and acquire a better sense of balance. Not only can I get out of a chair on my own, but I can get up off the floor after playing with the dog in one motion and can carry the laundry basket up and down stairs without leaning on the rail. My ‘warrior’ series isn’t pretty to watch, but I can transition well enough to maintain my balance throughout, and that was my goal.

You think THAT is a “push-up”?? Watch somebody attempting to extract themselves from a papas chair!! (Of course, this would never happen to a plugger… too smart to let himself get “trapped” by one of those things!)

    Pull-ups involve handrails and stairs.

So True ! I keep a 6ft. piece of rope with a slip loop on one end tied to a cinder block next to my recliner so I can put on my socks and shoes. I sit down loop the rope around whichever foot I am dressing, then pick up the cinder block and drop it over the back of the chair which pulls my foot up so I can put on my sock and shoe. I then pull the cinder block back over and repeat for the other foot. " Warning you must calculate correctly the proper length of the rope, too long and it won’t lift your foot high enough, too short and you will Kick yourself in the Face !" You-all Be Safe and Have a Great day !
