The irony is that our diverse species represents so much goodness and at the same time so much evil. The human species runs along a bell curve and all of us are somewhere along that continuum.

Most of us are somewhere in that big bulge in the middle, most closer to the middle, some skewed more towards one side or the other.

A very few of us are horrifically malicious, destructive and evil and, despite small numbers, account for most of the evil wrought our kind, in destruction to others of our species and to fellow earthlings of other species. They will do much evil for the sake of greed, and also, in many cases, just for the sake of satisfying destructive, hateful urges. These are like a virus, a cancerous blight on the face of the earth.

Likewise, a small number of us are enormously beneficent and strive to do much good, to others of our species and also showing great compassion and kindness to fellow earthlings of other species, and trying to undo the evil of those at the other end of the spectrum. These represent the cures, and we need more of them.

Earth Day, April 22, 1971, Walt Kelly’s Pogo said, “We have met the enemy and he is us.”

Give Trump another 4 years and he’ll speed up the process.

We’re treating Mother Nature in exactly the same the way Trump and the GOP treat women; grabbing it by the *, raping and abusing it, and then denying there’s a problem.

For the first time ever since they started checking on such things all the forests around the world are dying. They are failing to renew.

In John Brunner’s “The Sheep Will Look Up” it shows a modern world where there was no regulation of products and pollution. We could still reach it now in our world should the so called Lassaize Faire mind set rules. A Libertarian hell hole of unregulation if things had not been changed in the 1960’s. It isn’t a pretty picture and we could be easily going right back to it for real.

To quote the great Walt Kelly, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” Humanity, say your goodbyes and make your peace with whatever god you like best. The end is near.
