Dang it, I feel like I’m close to figuring it out:

1. There’s no mutagenic virus (September 19, 2016).

2. The existence of Aaron Marx, and his ability to hop among alternate universes.

3. The existence of dittos, not native to earth (explained Sept 12, 2016).

4. The Topsiders, whose use of a biosuit keeps them human even though there’s no virus.

5. The fact that you have to be unconscious when you transform in order to become a “cute anthro” rather than a horrifying monster (February 21, 2014).

6. The Lucranian Salvage Captain stayed on Earth for two weeks and did NOT transform (Sept. 19, 2016).

7. Aaron Marx does NOT transform.

8. Schism Syndrome, which even Wally knew about (October 29, 2014).

9. There’s a way to protect yourself against Amesworth radiation (February 4, 2010).

10. The invisible topsider.

11. The (apparently) topsider goggles and gloves that let you see and touch items that are invisible.

12. That comic book, of which there are at least 71 issues.

13. There are—or were, at the very beginning—humans who did NOT transform, even without a biosuit (Al and Hank, January 2009).

Could schism syndrome begin with the realization that you only have 4 fingers? I hope not, for Wally’s sake…

Time to change the numbering system to base-eight.

Wally has been overwhelmed by the reality of the situation.

Chic can see that they only have 4 digits while Wally and Kirbee see 5. What is the difference between these individuals? Chic was born after the crash, Wally and Kirbee both went thru it.

If/When he comes to, don’t ask him how many fingers… He might start meowing.

I’m reminded of the Sgt. Pepper reprise—-Paul McCartney counts out, “One, two, three, four,” and John Lennon says “Five.”

I love the placid Kirbee response to this issue, while Wally is actually losing his mind. Her response to the eye-brain split is basically, “well, that’s weird.”

Wally had complete recall of who he was before. I wonder has he forgotten that he knew, or is that part of the problem? We don’t know What happened just before he ended up in Unity. The worse places seem to have the nicest names which made this place suspect when we 1st heard it’s name. This is very ominous. There has to be mind control, interference going on.To be brainwashed has been one of My Fears since I first found out about t it. To be brainwashed and not even knowing it is 2nd. My fear for these dear ones, Wally, Chic and Kirbee is that. I know it’s a cartoon, but we have followed Wally and loved him for years. Cartoon or not he is like the velveteen rabbit. He is, in a way, real. The fact that Mr. Neatherly is so talented and can show real emotions on their faces and body language just reinforces our feelings for them.

Phantom finger syndrome.
