Someone predicted that the history would be retconned so his marriages were before Annie even entered the picture, but not so. Yes, I know that there will always be problems of maintaining continuity with these never-aging characters, but I’d have thought it would be less blatant.

Tremendous art once again. Powerful characters in shadow. I like the setting of the luxurious Siam Hotel, where two formidable men meet. Only one has a badge. Tracy tries to be tactful. Warbucks is touchy. Where will things stand when the smoke clears?
I don’t know why people are so disturbed by the inconsistency in Annie’s age, it’s the same inconsistency present in the majority of strips, including this one. How old Dick Tracy would be today if he aged in real time? His strip debut in 1931! I just enjoy the strips and this issue is forgotten.
1- TRACY: Ummm…Daddy? 2- WARBUX: Yes my boy? TRACY: I’ve never been lucky with the ladies. I think it’s because you neglected to have “the talk” with me. You know the “birds and the bees”. 3- WARBUX: Right, right. Well son, in my experience that part answers itself if you got the the “coin and the cash”. TRACY: Is that what attracted Mom to you? WARBUX: It sure wasn’t my luxurious hair. Remind me. Which one was she?
Retconning Warbucks’ marriages so they were before he met Annie would be like retconning Tracy’s past so that he didn’t meet Tess until after her father was killed.
Somewhere along the line, readers seem to think that these arcs will make sense. You got dead guys re appearing, crossovers with 100 year old comics, and the assumption by writers that everyone was an Annie fan. Just follow, and don’t try to make sense. This version of Warbucks, in the artwork, is a perhaps somewhat younger, sterner, less “Joyful Warrior” character than Harold Gray’s. I am disconcerted to some degree….
