I ask that question all the time Lizzie.

It looks as if Farley could read her mind and is thinking “Yeah. Copy that” in panel 4. His eyes were closed during cuddling in panels 2 and 3 and they opened in panel 4 as if he read her thoughts.

Because we know how to use a can opener

we don’t deserve dogs…

I know exactly how you feel, but I also realize that dogs were descended from wolves and wolves were made to eat you. Weed out the herd and take the weak. Nature is rarely kind.

Yeah I feel the same way! Just look at the idiots we have to lead us! I’d listen to my Beagle first! She is perfect!

Well Elizabeth, God made us in his own image and gave us free will to choose between good and evil. Thankfully most people choose good. He gave us directives, like going forth to be fertile and multiply and to live up tour our highest potential. Animals dont have these God granted graces.

Because it’s a dog’s life already.

I have never really understood the magical relationship between dogs and men. Maybe it is just as well. The world would be too sad without dogs.

It would be more apropos if cat were named nomed in English.

I think that there may be a planet out there, populated and run by dogs.

I think that in the 20,000 years that dogs have associated with humans, that humans have guided evolution of dogs without realizing it; to make them act like friends or even children. A lot of the evolutionary changes that made wolves into dogs was done deliberately by selective breeding, of course.

Dogs were too smart to take the job.

There is no god.

I’ve always said we’d be a much nicer species if we shared a common ancestor with dogs rather than with primates.

Opposable thumbs.

That’s a darn good question. We aren’t doing a very good job, that’s for sure.

See today’s “Garfield” strip. Odie and Garfield are doing an “ask the dog” advice column today. Garfield is reading the letter which asks something to the effect of “If dogs are so smart, why does someone have to read you the letter?”

I wonder why too….

A dog may love you unconditionally, but a pocketful of treats doesn’t hurt!

Elizabeth, you will find that some of the best and nicest people you will ever know ARE Dogs…..

As I understand it, God was thinking about letting dogs run the world, but then they chewed up God’s shoes and sofa cushions. Man, on the other hand, just ate a few apples they weren’t supposed to eat, but they were really good about hiding the apple mess.

There’s a lot of us wondering that.,,
