    I think Pauline and I agree that D is a constant, rather than a variable.

    D=0.

    Therefore you always arrive at the correct answer of zero.

    Not only is the equation, itself, therefore quite practical, so is the physical result.

    No bears in my kitchen is a very practical outcome.

    This reminds me of the old saying, “Any closet is a walk-in closet if you try hard enough!”

    dividing area by volume makes no sense . . .

    yes, I agree D=0

    Wiley Bears are cute, even my wife loves them but they always seem to be figuring out how to eat humans ∴ D still = 0

    But then there’s also that ‘no-bears’ provision in my rental contract!

    But the equation is the “Number of Bears you CAN fit in your kitchen”. “d” is extraneous.

    D would be a negative number for me so that would cancel out any of them being present.

    Don’t need a multiplication symbol between the ) and the d, it just makes the formula read (Area of kitchen divided by Average volume of bear) times Area of kitchen times Desire to have bears in kitchen

    Units don’t match. X should be the volume of your kitchen or Y should be the footprint of the average bear.
