Lucy kicked Linus out of the house for awhile. Now, before he can even get home, she is getting rid of her “little” problems again for a few weeks.

Seems a little fast for a camp bus to show up. I wonder which school route she “tricked” the boys onto?

Amazingly, Linus didn’t say anything about queen snakes!

There was another strip that had Linus saying he’d never have to go to school again. Lucy informed him that summer vacation only lasts three months, and he said something about three months being never.

“Going Home” got replaced by “Going to Camp”…which will probably end just in time for school supply shopping to start…

Only camp I ever went to as a kid was Girl Scout camp. And Mom was always there. I cannot believe how much I hated her being on every school trip, every parental thing at school. Now I cherish those memories. She did the same with my younger sister and brother. The woman had energy and patience!

She was made a Lifetime Member of the PTA at some point :)

For me, camp was just a week. Loved camp, except for maybe the last year when it rained and rained. Only stopped the day it was time to go home.

I never went to camp as a child. My mother said she could scrape together the money for me to go, if I really wanted to go, but I preferred staying home and working on my projects. I remember building a kind of soap box derby using paper mache and multiple layers of oil based paint. As I was getting into electronics, I envisioned an oscilloscope device for detecting oncoming thunderstorms. And there was exploring to be done with my buddy Chuney on the nearby cotton farm. I remember my Momma teaching me how to use the sewing machine and how to cook. There was just too much to do at home to have time for camp.

Aren’t you supposed to get a letter telling you that you’ve been drafted before you’re actually expected to report for duty?

I like how Linus has become the same age as Charlie Brown (like Schroeder before him). There’s a sort of ceiling, age-wise.

I would have loved summer camp. The WHOLE summer. I did go for a week, a couple of summers. Straw mattresses, outhouses, lots of chores…so cool.
