Probably confiscated when they were found. Duffy needs it for proof something killed his brother. The Vaults of Eden may hold many answers. Wally will be looking for answers too.

My working theory right now is this colony is a topsider project and the colony leaders know it. The recorder might hold some sort of proof.

On Mar 4, it seems to be lying on the sand while Chic gets dragged away by the Invisible Hand. On Mar 13, Chic seems to be holding it again. Hard to say where it is now…

Kirby needs to remember what it was like to be young. No wait, they don’t have their memories anymore. Kirby was never young. She just took a long time to come out of her shell.

If the facts of their arrival here have been erased, one wonders if they remember anything of their previous lives.
