People on lofty perches should use caution when looking down at the rest of us. It is a long way down. And the mighty do fall.

As those of us in San Diego County — where those caution signs were put up many years ago — know, those signs were removed long ago because there were no more immigrants running across the freeways.

Every year for the last 10 years, illegal crossings have been DOWN, to the point where they were the lowest levels in 42 years, until this year, when all of a sudden they are up again because of Trump’s harsh practices towards Latin America that undermine their local security, destabilize and put pressure on them to leave their countries.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen had just worked out bilateral deals with Central American countries for addressing needs that would reduce pressures to emigrate, when once again Trump stabbed her in the back, pulled out the carpet from underneath her, and totally decimating her efforts by deciding to cut off all aid completely.

And by cutting off aid, of course that further destabilizes, is completely counterproductive and, surprise! surprise! Now people are fleeing again, numbers are up and, of course, Michael Ramirez will blame everyone but the responsible party.
