I once had responsibility for assigning numeric codes to some work areas and staff members at a job. I made up a list of four- and five-letter “naughty” words and transformed them to numbers using the phone system. (i.e., 2 for a, b or c, 3 for d, e or f, etc.; so “darn” would be 3276.) A few individuals received codes reflecting my opinion of them that would not make them happy if they knew.
