Pooch Cafe by Paul Gilligan for February 28, 2011
Transcript:
Poncho: So, alright! Make with the cocktail weenies! Chazz: Oh dang, I forgot. Chazz: Uh… you didn't happen to bring cocktail weenies, did you? Carmen: No… why would you think I brought those? Chazz: I was trying to win you over to Poncho with food, and I forgot I promised him cocktail weenies. Carmen: Oh. Carmen: Well, um… Can I pick the raisins out of the coleslaw for you? Poncho: Strike two! Chazz: No, Poncho, that counts as the same strike!

I don’t blame you a bit Poncho. Anyone who forgets the special treat for the dog is a person who needs to wake up and learn the proper procedure.

Chazz ought to just keep a case of cocktail weenies in the trunk.

Raisins AND coleslaw?! Definitely two strikes right there!!!

Speaking of weenies, Mr. Gilligan, it should read “I was trying to win Poncho over to you”.

One thing you had to remember Chazz, one thing…

Sorry, pltrgyst, but Mr Gilligan (2 “L”s) is correct. Chazz wasn’t trying to change her mind about Poncho, but the other way around: he was trying to win her over to Poncho.
And, two more strikes: one for the raisins in the cole slaw, and one for offering cole slaw to a dog in the first place!

Sorry, algurka I’m with pltrgyst. Simplest/commonest form is “I’m trying to win you over [to me]” this version is “I’m trying to win Poncho over to you!”
