If you run out of gas in Beantown, you’re really sunk!

It used to be the City Service sign and imprinted in the minds of every kid who went to Fenway, as it loomed over the left field wall.

Citgo is owned by the Venezuelan cov’t – buy there and you support this repressive, dictatorial regime

I hadn’t heard of the Citgo sign. Read up on it on Wikipedia. Fascinating how something that can arguably be characterized as a massive eyesore, and the epitome of sign pollution, become an American icon. Not beating up on my American friends here, I’m sure we could find other examples.

Oil is a fungible commodity, with an international market. No matter what station logo you get it from it may have oil from an objectionable source as part of the mix.

As far as I’m concerned, running is a joke.

Hardly ever see any runners with smiles on their faces. Can’t tell if they are just concentrating on their exercise or counting the laps until they get to the restroom.

And in the Detroit Free Press Marathon, at about the 23-mile mark, you know to turn off Jefferson and head toward the river because of the gas station. Which is, and I love this, a Marathon station.
