Even dentists have to take care of their skin.

It’s good to know your practitioners are observing proper procedures before invading your body. Studies show that scrupulous hand-washing by doctors prevents the spread of infection and saves lives.

This one is all over the place it seems. I guess Mallett is setting up the next couple of strips?

But will we get to see the Uhrmanator? And is the actual name Uhr or Urhman? Either way, unless the person is something truly unique in subs, his/her day is going to be a conflict between being diplomatic and the desire to use a water hose for crowd control.

It occurs to me that it’s possible no one much younger than me is going to connect dentists’ hands and the uncanny way that basic Neutrogena soap can smell so sterile and yet so appealing, so much like something you want to make your own hands smell like. But let’s be honest, it did, and — here’s an easier way to do the let’s-be-honest thing — in a way those ubiquitous nitrile gloves will never, ever match.

This also might baffle people young enough not to realize that there was once a time before Real Estate Agent TV and cooking shows, and even before the Angry Old People Political Commentary Channel, when there was nothing to do in waiting rooms except read 12-year-old copies of Newsweek. And do crosswords, but you were By God bringing your own crosswords.

But the hell with it. It’s not that you’re old or I’m old, it’s that Mrs. Olsen is old. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it (which, okay, is kind of an old joke).

But The Uhrmanator is coming back for a day, so all is good.

Whenever I have an office visit with one of my doctors, I always bring my crossword puzzles, because there’s always a lot of “hurry up and wait.”
