What little we know of the Mueller report from Barr’s 4-page summary confirms that Russia actively interfered in the election. Four pages. You could read it in five minutes. Do your job.
Only Trump supporters are saying “never mind”. Rall and other progressives who weren’t fooled by or part of the establishment media onslaught (like certain other political cartoonists appearing on this website) are saying that we should mind a great deal about what the new McCarthyism has done, is doing, and will continue to do to US politics domestic and foreign.
The Dear Leader is a Russian tool. He’s just done lots of other equally bad stuff. Even Barr’s self serving summary came down to, “We think he did it but don’t think we can prove it in court.”
Mr. Rall usually has a different drummer who does not wear red or blue. He has a point here; Almost nobody has read the entire report, excepting Mueller, Barr and Rosenstein. All we have heard about it comes from AG Barr’s four page memo. Given Mr. Barr’s history, we would do well to wait until the House gets hold of a full copy of the memo, plus all supporting documents. What does appear to be solid is that “Russia” did try to influence the 2016 election. But, we really do not have any new facts on that. Note that, in the future, Mr.Rall may choose to also do a cartoon on Mr.Trump and “TOTAL EXONERATION!!!!”, or some such.
Oh, Russia is very real stuff, as are Putin’s activities to influence the public in the US. That Trump’s whole family had strangely intense contacts and Russia-related businesses is known and proven. How much Mueller could proof so far about Mr Trump’s personal involvelements we do not know, as the Mueller report has not been released to the general public yet. What we have is a short paper called the Barr-report, written by somebody who did not make any original research at all and could write anything he wants.
So…the quick summary by Trump’s hand-picked Attorney General, who has only been in office for a month and was chosen because he’s stated repeatedly for decades that Presidents can’t be indicted for anything…convinces you that nothing happened? The summary that says “me and my deputy decided over the weekend not to charge my boss with crimes based on evidence that I don’t think you should see”? The summary that specifically states there is a substantial amount of evidence for coverup and is unclear on why Mueller didn’t make the prosecutorial call on those charges himself? You don’t even want to see the ACTUAL report?
Also, the guy saying “Russia Russia Russia” all the time is actually Trump himself. Did you forget that part? We’ve had investigations of Presidents before; we’ve just never had a President so obsessed with one and incessantly attacking and publicizing it at every turn.
It’d odd to see you buying into the GOP spin on this so quickly. Perhaps you might consider why Trump, McConnell, etc. are so adamant about immediately and vehemently attacking (Adam Schiff should resign, says the President) anyone who wants to see the actual report and totally stonewalling the release of the document that supposedly completely exonerates Trump. That does not add up to a report that actually exonerates Trump.

Russia is real. But, yes, there are many other Trump crimes as well.

Russian interference into American elections will never be a matter of so what! The Rosenbergs are turning over in their graves.

And we are still waiting for Adam Schiff to reveal it. He’s been talking about it for 2 plus years.
