Just beware of what you land on.

People who have had bad breakups (like Luann did with Quill) can hesitate to ‘leap’ into a new relationship, especially one that starts online. It’s tough enough to figure out someone you’ve spent time with. It’s almost impossible to figure out someone who might be hiding behind a manufactured personality online…

Homeless men beware of these two ladies.

Like an airplane crashing, it’s not the leaping hat kills you; it’s the sudden stop of “landing”.

“If you do not leap….you do not live”.

But Luann all you do is flop.

I knew Tara was a heartbreaker. And she shows a little skin mid section.

My motto is more like Luann’s.

Tara is really promiscuous isn’t she.. no person will date so many people unless they having sex mostly one night stands

A girl who goes on casual dates, isn’t looking for a relationship and makes this clear from the start isn’t a heartbreaker. Tara’s pretty (and knows it) and a bit flirty but she’s not a villain. I love how Tara and Luann are so diametrically opposed, in the way they act and think, but still they are such good friends, always happy and cheerful with each other. I hope this will helps Luann to out of her decisions of don’t have any dates for avoid to be disappointed or discarded.

Jeeze. Not only is Luann not even “trying,” in the “date department,” She’s practically GIVING guys away!I SWEAR, she’s approaching dating with the SAME “Zeal” as cleaning up her room. In other words, NONE.

If I don’t KNOW better, I’d say that Luann is expecting (hoping) Gunny to FAIL with Bets. Hence the reason she subconsciously tried to sabotage his date. Lu figures that Gunther would “Always be there for her.”

Either THAT, or she’s expecting Aaron Hill, Quill or some other G-Q Stud to JUST waltz into her life. BAD Idea.

Try THIS “Rule,” Lu:

LuAnn…destined to be a cat lady by her own choice.

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. If it still isn’t successful, give up! No use making a damned fool of yourself. ;o)

Now we may have a hint about what happened to Tara during that mysterious weekend disappearance!

When we return to the Trials and Tribulations of Tiffany (T&ToT) perhaps we’ll see her first foray into the wild and wooly world of waitressing!?!? (Nice consonance, eh?)

Luann needs to be cautious since she has a different outlook from Tara on dating. But I hope she will at least TRY! It’s time she got back out there. Date Pic is as good a place as any to start. Even if she doesn’t find anyone she really clicks with if she’s careful in her choices she may at least make some new friends.

(Rubbing my sore neck a bit, from the whiplash of the abrupt story arc change.)

I was anticipating another week of Tiffany, but having Tara return (and Luann too) is a pleasant, albeit unexpected, departure. I really enjoy the arcs a lot when they occur on Pitt CC’s or Moony U’s campuses. So, I am anticipating a delightfully fun week!

So, Luann has not pursued Doug? Interesting and yet also a bit expected. It seems well within her typical sort of behavior. Really, for all the wanting and desire Luann has expressed over the years for having a “steady” boyfriend, since Quill vamoosed, she has been far more calm about the matter of dating. And, I tend to think this new approach by Luann is actually a really good one for her. She has not exactly been absent from getting attention from potential suitors (Jack, etc.). I think her laid back approach is a really good one as she spends more time figuring things out for herself. I think this is a winning strategy for her because she has a tendency to sort of mold herself to others. If she figures out more who she wants to be first, I think it will lead to a better relationship in her future.

Tara’s approach to dating is also appropriate… for her personality. Her personality reads to me as if she is firmly not interested in any long term relationship at the moment, and yet she is also all about “fun”. To have a bunch of dates with a bunch of different suitors does fit her style well.

The difference between Luann and Tara to me is that Tara is more self-assured…. I think she either already knows what she has as goals in life…. or she knows she just wants to live and experience life without goals…. either approach works for her personality at the moment. Luann is much less sure about things with herself currently….and benefits from her current dating approach…. casual but limited…. because she really needs more time to sort out her own ideas.

One final thought:

Some very interesting name’s for the guys Tara has had dates with…..

“Nat(e)” and “Niko” seem like fairly common, regular guy names for kids that age.

“Ike” – which seems to be a nickname for either Dwight or Issac is less common, but also interesting.

“Razor” seems (of course) a bit on the provocative side.

Razor sounds like someone who should be living in the dorm at college.

My guess is Luann and Gunther secretly like each other. They are both afraid to admit it.

Here I was ready to critique what Evans and Evans are getting wrong about the ins and outs of online dating, and really the problem lies with the commenter who clearly know nothing about the subject.

If it happens more than once it isn’t a one night stand. Many nights and days etc.

Well, Luann, you’ve nailed being a flop with a 10-point landing.

Tara is willing to try new and different things at the risk of failing, but for Luann the possibility of failure IS the reason why she doesn’t reach out and engage with new people or paths. Even thinking about a possible major or career direction represents uncharted territory that she seems nervous about entering; Luann likes the familiar. So the friendship is good; each could learn a bit from the other. Tara is a little too out of control; Luann is too hesitant.

And so it goes. Tara lands ’em, and Luann flops. It is the guiding premiss of this strip that Luann should be a flop at romance….
