Glad I worked as a mechanic for a few years. Saved me a lot of money over the years.

Cars always seem to know when you have a little extra money;)

We bought our vehicle new 15 years ago and just got an estimate approximating that figure.

If you’re doing the water pump and radiator, then you’d better replace the hoses and the thermostat as well.. so now it’s $3600. ;-)

When a Plugger buys a “new” used car, he can still work on it himself.

About right: bought a Power Ram 50 for $1100, paid $900 for steering work and converting it to a Holley carburetor.

When you buy a thousand dollar car, you’ll put a thousand into it and still have a two thousand thousand dollar car.

Great timing. Bought a ‘97 Chevy pickup 2 weeks ago for $4k, put $2k into it, don’t plan to ever let it go.

My parents bought a row house when they got married, and when I was 10 they moved into an individual home that I know cost $15,000. They moved into a new house when Eldest Daughter was a baby which cost $20,000. Not too long after that they bought a new car and Mum was floored! “We bought three houses for what we paid for those four wheels!”

PJ bought a used car for $250 several years ago & got 2 good years out of it before it flunked inspection. The jerkwad of a mechanic down the street put $800 worth of unauthorized repairs into it, quoted another $1200, & was shocked when PJ refused to pay, pulled the title out of his pocket, & signed the thing over on the spot.

I miss the good old days when it was possible to work on your own car. My favorite car I’ve ever owned is still the burned-out 1971 Chevy Vega I bought straight out of college in 1974. That thing was a cinch to work on.

Somebody doesn’t watch The People’s Court, Judge Judy otherwise he wouldn’t have this problem.

Pluggers drive their old cars until they are on a first name basis with the tow truck drivers!

Another comic idea from Mike Goode of Canton NC published…must be great to be a good friend of Brookins or a relative.
