Yep. New Zealand got hit with a terrorist attack by a right-wing “Christian” terrorist citing Trump as his inspiration and using an AR-15.

New Zealand skipped right past “thoughts and prayers” to ACTION, because they have a real president, actually elected by the people, who represents those PEOPLE, not the NRA domestic terrorist and international money laundering crime syndicate, which does not exist in their country.

Since the US is being held hostage by the terrorist organization, the NRA, we can’t act as adult as New Zealand.

Exactly, an extreme interpretation. If the 2nd amendment was strictly interpreted and in line with the original intent that conservatives claim to care so much about the US would have gun laws like Switzerland. How many Americans can even recite the 2nd amendment in full?

Let’s be honest. The Republican leadership’s refusal to allow any new gun regulations has everything to do with the NRA and nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment. Even bastion of the right wing, Antonin Scalia agreed the 2nd Amendment had limitations.

“Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose…”—Justice Antonin Scalia, District of Columbia v. Heller ruling

Basing a political ideology on fear of your neighbor instead of trust and respect, and allowing almost unconditional acquisition of arms and minimal regulation/responsibility breeds more fear.

When trust and respect of your fellow citizens are gone can a constitutional democratic republic exist?

Is that what the radical right now wants?

    Is it sane?

Gun people value guns much more than people. Kids who survive shootings and are brave enough to speak out against it are considered scum. One has recently killed herself. I’m sure Gun lovers approve.

Voting for politicians who kowtow to the NRA is murder by proxy.

Does this mean that OBAMA IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS! — is a LIE?

    .

    I mean, a Republican LIE?

Why would they even do that?

I own a number of “arms”, for hunting, defense, and sport. No AR “type” since Viet Nam, but I can put food on the table, or put down a “bad guy with a gun”, while he’s still 300 yards away, one round will do ya’. In the home, where Scalia and SCOTUS say I do have a RIGHT to a weapon, got it covered. I have no problem with the DUTY of grovernment to regulate my carry outside the home and roaming around, as Scalia also said. No center fire rifle or shotgun should hold more than five legal for hunting rounds. Pistols ARE a little different, but anyone needing more than 12 rounds in a Glock or S & W pistol, should NOT be carrying one!!

New Zealand is looking at some common sense changes and improvements to their regulations, we should do the same.

Why doesn’t the 2nd Amendment crowd ever talk about the “well-regulated militia” specified therein?

A current theme in TV and movies is gunfights between cops and “bad guys” where hudreds of rounds are expended on city streets, or in neighborhoods, where nobody gets hit initially on either side, then cops standing in the open don’t get hit, but bad guys behind cars or walls (think Schwartzenegger flicks) are killed. Where do those hundreds, or thousands, of rounds that don’t hit either combatant go?? Right, collateral damage when “good guys” or “bad guys” can’t actually hit squat accurately on automatic, or semi-auto, with big magazines.

Revolvers and bolt action rifles mean you aim at what you want to hit, no luxury of just filling the air, or neighborhood, with bullets in the hope your target will walk into our rounds.

Do we REALLY need this example of modern weapons to stand for “responsible” gun ownership, or use?
