Remove the cap on the House; this would at least add numbers to the Electoral College for more populous states. Two Senators for each state already give more power to space over people.
The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) is an agreement among a group of U.S. states and the District of Columbia to award all their electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the overall popular vote in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The compact is designed to ensure that the candidate who receives the most votes nationwide is elected president, and it would come into effect only when it would guarantee that outcome.
So far, the states signing on comprise 181 electoral votes. If enough states join to make a total of enough votes for a majority, it will essentially make the electoral college vote irrelevant to all intents and purposes.
Why should voters in Wyoming have their votes count for far more than those of people in populous states?

As a result each of Wyoming’s three electoral votes corresponds to 177,556 people. Understood in one way, these people have 3.18 times as much clout in the Electoral College as an average American, or 318%”
The founders, in their wisdom, created a Republic. They did so to prevent tyranny by the majority. They introduced checks against the accumulation of excess power by the more populous states.
They understood that such power would lead men to completely destroy the rights of the minority. For their own good, of course.
This ridiculous initiative is taking place because the backers understand that they cannot rally enough support to use the LEGAL mechanism within the Constitution to change the Constitution. They understand that in the cold light of day, the Electoral College functions exactly as designed.
In the most recent election it prevented the will of several densely populated states to dictate the outcome for the entire nation.
If this initiative is implemented it will be challenged in the courts and will ultimately be ruled unconstitutional. If you want to eliminate the EC or change the way the States allocate their votes you must amend the Constitution.
It still boils down to the fact that a minority in this country believes that dirt (or someone who owns a lot of it) should influence the election of our President.
