Today’s “Luann” is very funny. (1) Tiff gets Les to go for it no problem: (2) Les must have rehearsed his assigned loser role until he got it perfect; (3) Ta Da! Time for TJ, whose mind works similar to a slot machine (Bar – Bar- Lemon). Bet on Hilarity…

Tiff’s going to make way more than three times Less’ tips, plus he gets an extra dollar an hour for working in a non-tipping job. This is working out for him. Tiff gets what she was going for. TJ gets a customer friendly server. Nobody loses.

There must be another shoe to drop. Still only Wednesday.

Tiffany’s idea is not bad, but the way she pitched it yesterday would bite her in the wallet. After all, she’ll be reporting the tips (or at least, she’s supposed to) as income. But if she’s lucky, whatever state this is located in doesn’t have a lower wage than for non-tipped employees.

Being a waiter is hard — but she’s shown she can work with people and their service demands with her nail “salon.” I know commenters hate to see these characters change — for one thing, it stops them from being able to complain that they never change — but I think it’s happening. If nothing else, the strip has gotten a lot funnier :)

Why doesn’t Tiffany go work at a Hooters and keep ALL her tips? Why would she give some of them to Les? Surely there must be plenty of server jobs for a pretty young woman in a college town.

I also don’t imagine Mr. Gray will be happy about Les being demoted. He might call in his mob buddies.

Oh no, Les… NO! Your uncle will call you “dork” for the rest of your life. But The Fuse would probably improve with Tiffany as a server and I can’t wait to see her take orders from Luann.

TJ. I hope you remember the old adage “If it sounds too good to be true..” Think, obviously Les isn’t a good server. He may be efficient, but not personable. Tiffany may be more personable (if she gets over herself,) but can she handle a platter of dishes-at all? And, if she can, will it be efficiently?

No. It doesn’t make any “sense” at all. But it is where Greg wants to take the strip. He obviously has a goal for the Tiffany character and this is how he will make that happen.

It looks like TJ is a tending bar. I thought with his culinary skills he would be the chef. I’m soooo confused!?!?

If Les made $4.12 in tips last week, he will make alot more money as a dishwasher. Dishwashers are subject to minimum wage, most servers are not. Also if you do a good job taking care of the servers they tip.

Perhaps the tips impetus will coax Tiff to “revert to norm.” Look at the funds she attracted back in:

Entre stage left-TJ!!! Man the TJ and Les haters must be so excited you can only see the white’s of their eyes. (lol). Seriously (or as seriously as this commentary should get) it seems inevitable that this RubeGoldberg proposition by Tiffany is going to happen, and it does make weird sense, but toward what end? Just so Tiffany can get introduced to the work world, in a place by the way she would feel comfortable, being around people she knows, or is the meaning deeper? Ah, time may tell.

A very interesting progression these last few days. BUT….

I am still of the mindset that this is far too simple and and abnormally “normal” of a decision by Tiffany. Getting a job of some sort to pay off debt is normal, typical and understandable. But that just does not seem like the “Tiffany” way. I still believe there is something else afoot here. I have no idea what it is yet, but there has to be something else that Tiffany is planning/scheming here.

I just wonder if Tiffany has any idea of what waiting tables really entails. Somehow, I just cannot imagine her on her feet for 8-10 hours, carrying heavy trays, keeping orders correct, knowing the menu and any specials on a daily basis, and placing the customers’ needs and wants ahead of her own opinions. I wish her well, of course, but I’m just wondering if she’s thought this out.

well, if Les is that bad with people, can’t hurt giving someone else a chance; speaking from experience, a good server needs looks, personality, and ESPECIALLY HUSTLE. Tiffany? maybe one out of three.

Will Tiffany honorably fork over half of her tips to Les as she as said? I’m wondering if this is a test of her integrity, e.g. given that Tiff might find herself making more tips than she imagines.

This may work out. Les won’t have to deal with difficult customers, and he’s free from his evil mother. Tiffany will have a job that makes more money than at Kids First, and she should be safe from Ann (or risk bringing up the scam). And I choose to believe that Luann will behave herself, since Tiffany did get her a refund from the scam.

It’s just too bad that Tiffany’s father won’t make time to see how his own child is doing. A few minutes of private father-daughter time can make a world of difference.

It sounds like the Dishwashing Job would be a Raise even Without Tiff giving him a share of the Tips.

Because Minimum Wage for Dishwashers is Higher than Minimum Wage for jobs that receive Tips.

Sorry to add logic to this, but as we know waitstaff make less than minimum wage and is offset by tips. If Les is practically making nothing in tips dishwasher would be a huge pay bump. This should have been a no brainier even without the Tiffany aspect.

Yup Ms Pony, me too. Most decent restaurants don’t make them report what they receive in cash, so they only have to pay when the tip is on a credit card.
