What do you think of a rich tax to compensate for the damage they do to the community? For example, this could then be used for public healthcare or to create better paid jobs for the poor in the green industry.
If their parents gave a large donation to the university, the kid woudln’t bother pretending to be on the team. The only difference between this current scandal and the generations-old practice of buying rich kids’ way into good schools is that in the current scandal, the schools didn’t get their cut. The overall lesson: if you’re rich, especially if you’re born into money, you will get what you want. Unless you cross other rich people, and then you’ll be a headline for a week.

Be Still My Heart, Varvie actually got something right.
Well, sort of. One way to eliminate the particular method used would be to eliminate intercollegiate sports. (And we know how that would fly.)

The difference is that in one scenario, the college gets a building. The rest is obvious enough.

This is proof that the rich NEED all those tax exemptions and loopholes.
You know, to give them incentives.
.
Poor people would just waste any tax breaks.

If that kid’s parents are that rich, why does he need a scholarship? Seems the parents could just pay the tuition, room and board fees themselves.

Wrong. If it was an endowment the kid wouldn’t have to fake a sport.
