Calvin has trouble dealing with the truth.

It looks like Hobbes is getting ready for some smooches.

Calvin needs to get paid for this hard work in the mud.

You’d think Calvin would have played with mud long enough to throw well with it.

Calvin, she got you to play with her. Don’t you feel foolish now.

Before long, Calvin’s mother will launder Calvin’s clothes and Hobbes. (I never understood what aethetes are even when I first came across this strip on one of my C&H books.)

For the mud stomping I see myself at Calvin’s age . I can’t say the same for approaching girls .

Ah, look at the bright side. At least Susie didn’t mock Calvin for having a “small” tail… Or, from the looks of the last two frames, maybe she did…

I think this one was from early in the strip, when Calvin was undecided about Susie. :D

Susie got hit by a bucket of mud, be sure to close your eyes

…and the agony of defeat.

Just thinking of sometime in the future: Susie: “Remember when you used to throw mud balls at me?” Calvin: “Ah, the good old days!”

There’s a great old movie called ‘It Happens Every Spring’… it’s about baseball.

Well, he did start chasing a girl. I suppose the intent may have been a bit off, but the action was unmistakable.

Love is in the air—-and so is mud!

I admit I had to look up the word “aesthetes”.

Why only love in the Spring? I prefer year round.
