When I was in first grade we made frozen orange juice can pencil holders for our fathers – we painted the cans and put on glitter. My dad always had it on his desk (later my sister’s one with calendars glued on joined it – but only for awhile). I eventually worked with my dad and I ended up the practice. The pencil holder is now on my desk – dad having passed on in the early 90s. Now instead of reminding him of me, it reminds me of him.
