It absolutely pains me to say this because I have two cats of my own, albeit they have never gotten out of the house. The truth is that cats are an invasive species that was brought to this continent. They have caused over 1500 species world wide to become extinct because they don’t hunt for food, but simply to kill. Still, I love my two killers. (The 1500 is a number that got tossed out when it was reported that cats should be hunted down and killed, I don’t really buy that number).
it is believed cats are the only animal to domesticate themselves. they saw farmers with grain that attracted rodents and thought ‘this is a good deal, i’m staying.
