Bill Clinton was exactly this. One of the few who saw through him was the late political cartoonist Doug Marlette, who referred to him as a “Faux Bubba.” He was a brilliant wonk, but he came across as a “down-home” guy you’d be happy to have a beer (or a Big Mac) with. His sexual escapades just endeared him to the real bubbas, and enraged the GOP, who knew he had taken their playbook, right down to the tapping of corporations for campaign funding.

Al Gore failed in part because he didn’t veil his intelligence, and he came across as a stiff because he was advised (badly) not to show his sense of humor. In fact, he made fun of himself (a good sign, meaning you have personal perspective – #45 can never even admit he made a mistake!) repeatedly. He’d sit next to a member of the press or staff who had fallen asleep on long trips – preferably someone who was completely out and drooling – and pretend to be speaking to them for the benefit of the White House photographer.

It’s increasingly hard to catch people’s attention these days. To sustain it is a herculean task. Donny Boy versus Hillary? No contest, she just didn’t relate and communicate with people.

This com es from America’s deeply-brad mistrust of intellectuals. I’m surprised Trump and his inbred, six-toed, sister-loving goons haven’t resorted to the term “eggheads.”

We have passed the point of no return. Most of our so called political elite have degrees is some sort of studies courses with an agenda and no actual thinking or analysis needed the electorate knows next to nothing about history or how the worlds has always worked but a lot about what TV, movie or sports event is currently in vogue. “Idiocracy” is right around the corner.

I have lost faith in humans doing the right thing. They care more about what’s on TV then they do about what the dictator in chief is doing to the country.

Eureka! A comic artist has hit on the truth. The country needs someone who’s not above scratching him or her self in public. Someone who can speak only in single syllable words. I believe my time has come, I accept the nomination. Now clear these other bozo’s outta my way. There’s work to be done. Get AOC on the phone. I gotta find out how she did, what she did.

Along the same lines, Democrats should change the way they write bills if they want them passed. They need to take a page out of the Republican playbook with their “right to work” and “citizens united” BS.

The next time someone writes a piece of legislation about lowering the cost of education, healthcare or prescription drugs, the bill needs to be called “Free Beer and Stock Cars”.
