I just watched a show about Saturn’s rings on the science channel. They think the rings are only about 100 million years old. Not very long considering the age of the solar system is about 4.5 billion years.
WHICH dinosaur would that whale weigh twice as much as, Mr. Graziano? There were an awful lot of different types of dinosaur, and they came in a vast array of sizes and weights – scientists don’t estimate a single weight for all of them.
Nobody knows the weight of the largest Blue Whale that ever lived, as most of them are unkown to us. So it should text “the weight of the largest Blue Whale that was ever recorded”. And the comparison to the size of Dinosaurs is as senseless as to say some animal was twice as heavy as scientists estimate mammals are. There were Dinosaurs from small to large, the smallest having been smaller than chickens. It is also inadequate because only the terrestrial saurians are called Dinosaurs, and the largest and heaviest land mammals are much smaller than the large Dinosaurs. The saurians living in the seas are called Ichthyosaurs. It is not known how big the biggest of them were, but a lower jaw found in the UK in 2018 was asessed belonging to a giant Late Triassic Ichthyosaur, the size of which was estimated to be similar to the size of Blue Whales.
I once held one of her wigs. True story. She removed it, turned to me (a broadcast engineer at the time), handed it to me, did something to her real hear and the hardware that was in it, then turned and grabbed it and put it back on, giggling.
Long ago on one of the morning talk shows, Dolly momentarily flustered her interviewer who had asked about her onstage image.
She said, “Where would I be without my big ole… [pause]… wigs.” Then she fluffed up her curls and said “What country girl would be without her haystacks?”
The interviewer is at a loss for words.
Parton wasn’t finished: “What? You thought I was going to say ‘my big ole… [pause]… false…[pause]… eyelashes?’”
According to this website Dolly has hundreds of wigs. Too many to count. Which makes me wonder if she really does name all of her wigs. If she does, does she remember all of their names?
The largest blue whale that EVER lived! What was his/her address? How was he/she identified? Which other blue whales was he/she compared to? Was there a world-wide international oceanic convention where all blues attended and a contest for the largest was awarded? Is the individual referenced here still living? Has another “heir apparent” been identified among the present world-wide populations? So many questions. Seems a bit unlikely that somehow “Scientists” are in touch with the entire blue whale community to make such a distinction. Also; in passing, I believe blue whales have always been regarded as the largest animal that has ever lived on the planet. (this includes dinosaurs)
from what I’ve learned rings are intermittent phenomenon, all 4 jovian planets and even at least one asteroid have them, and Saturn’s should last another couple hundred million years. There may have been a time when all of the gas giants had rings as spectacular as Saturn’s, not to mention there’s always a chance new rings can form, even Mars might get a ring system if Phobos breaks up due to tidal forces.
