THAT’S a salad, El?! Sure you’re suppose to have plenty of vegetables, but that’s way too much! (Not to mention you forgot the fattening dressing.)

It looks like all she’s eating is lettuce and a few other vegetables. If she isn’t drowning it in dressing, she can eat as much as she wants. I would be hard-pressed to eat that much lettuce in one sitting.

I fell into that trap many times; a lot of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers AND ham slices, cheese, croutons and half a cup of blue cheese dressing. I had just as well have ordered a triple meat Whopper with cheese and a pint of coke.

Yeah. Rabbit food looks extremely low calorie and unfilling on a small plate so people tend to pile up thinking since it’s low calorie, it’d be okay to pile up. I was surprised to learn a lot of salad bar food are high in calories especially the dressings which are full of sugar. Salads could be low calorie with just veggies and leaves. No cheese, no nuts, no seeds, no raisins and important of all, no dressing. Who wants to eat just veggies and leaves? Rabbits, that’s who.

Somebody on Etiquette Hell told a story about an acquaintance who would order “just a salad” at a restaurant and then spend the whole meal stealing off everybody’s plates. And then declare, " I don’t know how you can eat all that food when I’m full and didn’t even finish my salad.

Now, if she sticks with just the greens, then she can eat like a cow and still lose weight. Of course, this means NO DRESSING OR CROUTONS. :P

I saw this a million times when I was in the restaurant business. Although her plate doesn’t seem to be drenched in dressing.

I don’t like dressings I add a very small amount of salt and dive in.

Still fewer calories and carbs than the soup and chicken.

I just add vinegar and a light sprinkle of grated cheese and black pepper to my salads.

I’ve had lots of friends say “I don’t know why I’m not losing weight, all I have is a salad.” A salad with chicken, cheese, croutons, ham cubes, a half gallon of Thousand Island Dressing. Yep, I don’t know either.

I’m a champion when it comes to making the most unhealthy salads imaginable. I pile that bowl with bacon bits, ham, tons of cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and a boat load of creamy dressing. Oh and I do leave some room for a few baby spinach leaves.

Buffets used to be popular in this area, but one by one closed down. There was a great one at the truck stop jct Avenue of Saints and US 136 west of Keokuk, Ia, but last time we went it had been converted into a Dennys – overnight!

Well, it doesn’t look like she smothered it in dressing. So really, it looks like a pretty healthy salad. Totally nothing wrong with eating all that.
