More truth to the story than many of us would like to admit.

This would be funnier if it wasn’t something I have seen happen in real life, living in a rural area with NO CELL SERVICE!!! I have had visitors here FREAK OUT over no bars on their phone until I tell them that they can link into my wi-fi router…as long as they are within about 100’ of my house…

Mostly I have my shopping list on it and I may use it for streaming at a restaurant alone. Occasionally, I check for time and weather. Usually I check it twice a day for the battery level.

    I don’t have a cell phone, and I’m OK with it…

I rarely ever carry my cell phone. My wife, on the other hand, has two. Like the rest of Ecuador, she can’t live without her WhatsApp, FaceBook, Email Google, Text Messaging etc…etc… etc… on her phones.

I use mine only for emergencies or when I think my wife may have to get in touch with me, or I need to reach her. Although I have the ability to use all the apps on my phone, I don’t. I have my HP laptop and my Lenovo Tablet for all that other stuff. I can use either to make long-distance calls from if necessary and local calls from the Tablet. As far as I’m concerned, I could easily live without the phone – I very, very rarely will even answer the landline in the house.

I went to a movie in the same mall as the apple store when I had my battery changed. I was mostly ok. Though I had phantom feeling during the movie that my phone vibrated in my coat pocket. LOL And I had a bunch of waiting “why aren’t you answering me” texts from a friend of mine when I got it back. I don’t think I am addicted like people who check every minute or two, but it is a part of my life where its absence is noticed after a while.

Oh, the trials of the ill prepared. I just take my tablet along with me and glom on the the mall’s WiFi while my phone’s getting fixed. ;)

My phone must be old fashioned. I can change the battery myself. Of course it took a few days to arrive after I ordered it, but that was OK; I used my older phone in the meantime. No one called anyway.

In the 1970s I went out with a young woman that didn’t have a phone. I rather enjoyed that.

This comic is predictive. Notice how the story finishes with “The End”…

I remember when all phones had batteries that you could easily change yourself. (And software upgrades that didn’t make you need to buy a newer phone)
