The Green New Deal is a RESOLUTION, not a bill, and not a specific or detailed proposal. It is an OUTLINE, a FRAMEWORK, proposing general, realistic long-term strategies for bringing together the need to address the REAL “national emergency,” climate change, and balance it with legitimate economic concerns.
The idea is to deal with the climate crisis PROACTIVELY, to PREVENT damage, but to do it in a way that OFFERS INCENTIVES and encourages clean, green jobs focused on those who will lose jobs in the dying, inefficient, filthy jobs of the dinosaurs (selling products made from dinosaurs and ancient, prehistoric forests) that are going the way of the horse and buggy.
Many of the old fossils of my generation, who care nothing about the future generations (and “unborn babies”) to whom they give lip service and little else, don’t care because they (we) are not the ones who will live long enough to suffer the most serious consequences.
Those of us who really do love our children and grandchildren, and the billions of unnamed future generations not yet born, put our policies and, yes, dollars, where our mouths and ballots are.
The co-sponsor of the resolution, Ed Markey, is never mentioned. The Repubs are obsessed with denigrating AOC.
