Well, this is new! Also glad I’m not the only one to refer to cats as “purrbabies”. Heehee.

The mighty huntress has cornered her prey! Look at that poof! Go, Beatrix, go! Preferably without gnawing on the Man’s fingers, though.

Panel 2, what would you call that expression? The eyes are narrowed, one arm across the chest holding up the other arm cradling the chin. Definitely, to my mind, a considering look. You can almost see her sifting through and discarding ideas.

I took some red capsicum (pepper) out of the fridge, and as I did it was snatched out of my hand by my chincilla (Gandalf) who thought it was a steak. Once he had it he dropped it and walked off.

    If pouncing doesn’t work

    I’ll make Kitty Eyes!

I think I would prefer the animal crackers.

Also, our cat, Berlioz, has,for a long time, assumed he can’t get through the cat fencing. But he recently discovered he can, and the HOA won’t let us make the fence taller…he’s been inside for the past week or so, but he typically goes outside everyday.

Recently, we tried letting him outside with supervision, and he still climbed the fence.

The other night, we couldn’t find him, and figured out he had escaped. We discovered him in the bushes, a little way away from our house. At the moment, he is an inside cat.

Am I the only one who can actually hear the Man’s lamenting anguish in the last panel? I have been on the receiving end of the fury of a polydactyl in hunting lessons, he’s best to let the sandwich go and count his blessings that he still has eyes (my little Murder-Puff always went for the eyes).

When I was in high school, we rescued a little lost kitten, Jessica CrazyCat. One evening I was eating dinner in my bedroom as my parents had company. I had two pork chops on a plate and I put it on the bed and was reading and watching TV while I ate. All of a sudden, Jessica came running across the bed so fast, I had to laugh. It took me a few minutes to realize I now only had one pork chop on my plate. I never saw her take the other, and it was almost as big as she was. She was that fast.

It’s a long story, but I originally dreamed up Jessica — I have witnesses to this incredible story. In my dream, I was in bed sleeping. My mother opened my door and stood there, holding a tiny orange tabby kitten cradled like a baby. She had driven my sister to her early-morning summer job and found the little thing in the parking lot. The cat’s name was Jessica, although we didn’t name her, it just was her name. That was strange in itself as in those days, all cats were named Fluffy or whatever, no people names.

The dream was so real, I had to check when I woke up that we really didn’t have a new kitten. A few nights later, I dreamed about Jessica again, another very realistic dream. That’s when I told my friends about her and how odd it all was. A few days later, I was in bed sleeping and the door opened and my mother was there with a tiny orange tabby cat cradled in her arms. “Oh, it’s Jessica,” I said and turned over to go back to sleep, thinking I was dreaming. “Huh?” my mother said, “look it’s a kitten I found in the parking lot when I drove your sister to work.” “Yes, I know, it’s Jessica, now let me get back to sleep.” My mother laughed and said I was still half asleep and left. Imagine my surprise when I woke up and Jessica was really there. True story, like I said, and I had witnesses.

One night, I dreamed the winning lottery numbers, but I forgot them too quickly to buy a ticket. I have no idea if they really won.

When I was a child, this happened with our new kitten, Pitcher (because little pitchers have big ears). My dad was cutting my pizza into bite sized pieces and dropped one on the floor. Pitchy lept on it and when my dad tried to retrieve it, sliced his thumb open… :-D The cat got to keep the pizza!

The man should know by now, that he is required to share. It’s very simple, just tear off a small piece of ham, tuna, cheese, whatever, and offer it. Quite soon the cat learns that if they ask politely (MEEEEOOOOOOW!!!!) you will happily offer to share, and they will get some if they want it. Not to say I haven’t had my leg attempted to be climbed, but my reaction to such usually solves the problem the first time (loud yell and reflexive jerk of leg). Now the worst I get is a very urgent, friendly, slightly prickly paw pat: “Hey! I’m down here, and that smells GOOD!”
