Some one please explain to Mr. Varvel that communism is not the same as socialism. I haven’t got the patience.

Hahahaha, socialism and liberalism are incompatible. Just like socialism do not manifest with ideology of conservative nationalists. So stop blaming each other and get informed correctly.

Helping the poor has to be denigrated by conservatives by using pejoratives. Then as usual they tell you how Christian they are. In their thinking Jesus charged hefty fees for miracles.

The Republicans used to link “Socialism” to Russian Communism, the Russians’ version of Marxism. Now our president is beholden to a Russian, Soviet KGB officer who now rules Russia.

Echoes of Republican points of the past are heard again:

“Look out! Social Security is Communist! It’s like what the Russians have!”

“Watch it! Medicare is Communism! Bad, bad, bad! It’s like what the Russians have!”

“Authoritarian government! It will take away your rights and freedoms! It’s like what the Russians have! Oh, wait, no, it’s okay as long as it is a Republican authoritarian.”

Socialism crisis = Distraction from the current president’s many, many, multiple investigations – money laundering, conspiracy, emoluments, obstruction, campaign criminal payments… Does anyone remember Trump stridently declaring: “She’s likely to be under investigation for criminality for a very, very long time to come,” Trump said during a Oct. 31, 2016 speech in Warren, Mich. “We’re going to be tied up in court for the rest of our lives with this deal,” he added, referring to if Clinton were elected. “She’s not going to win the election, but I’m just saying. If Hillary is elected, she will be under protracted criminal investigation likely followed by the trial of a sitting president. This is just what we need.” – Time magazine, 6/15/17

Considering that there were eight cartoons on the “socialism is bad” this must be the republican theme of the week. Too bad that that capitalism died in 1929 and we were rescued by socialism.

There are, of course mny types of socialism.

" … For American anarchist historian Eunice Minette Schuster “it is apparent … that Proudhonian Anarchism was to be found in the United States at least as early as 1848 and that it was not conscious of its affinity to the Individualist Anarchism of Josiah Warren and Stephen Pearl Andrews … William B. Greene presented this Proudhonian Mutualism in its purest and most systematic form”. Josiah Warren is widely regarded as the first American anarchist,20 and the four-page weekly paper he edited during 1833, The Peaceful Revolutionist, was the first anarchist periodical published, an enterprise for which he built his own printing press, cast his own type, and made his own printing plates.

Warren was a follower of Robert Owen and joined Owen’s community at New Harmony, Indiana. Josiah Warren termed the phrase “Cost the limit of price”, with “cost” here referring not to monetary price paid but the labor one exerted to produce an item. Therefore, “[h]e proposed a system to pay people with certificates indicating how many hours of work they did. They could exchange the notes at local time stores for goods that took the same amount of time to produce”. He put his theories to the test by establishing an experimental “labor for labor store” called the Cincinnati Time Store where trade was facilitated by notes backed by a promise to perform labor. The store proved successful and operated for three years after which it was closed so that Warren could pursue establishing colonies based on mutualism. These included “Utopia” and “Modern Times”. Warren said that Stephen Pearl Andrews’ The Science of Society, published in 1852, was the most lucid and complete exposition of Warren’s own theories. …"

I used to post about the history and theory of socialism, but it was a waste of time. It’s clear that Varvel is either ignorant or a liar or both. Likewise Ramirez. If they are going to draw cartoons about socialism, they should at least learn what it is.

Gary, you really need to watch less Fox! If you were really concerned about socialism, then perhaps you should consider this: One of the lines Trump read during his state of the Union address, “we will never be a socialist country”. This was said in a taxpayer-funded building, to a taxpayer-funded Congress, to the heads of the greatest socialist-funded military the world’s ever known. This comes after he gave $12 billion in socialism to farmers and demanded billions for a socialist wall.

Gary Varvel, once again showing off the awesome analysis skills of the Trump Disciple.

Socialism = communism = Venezuela = Marxism = Democrats = progressive income tax = public health = anyone getting health care who can’t afford it.

    .

And the other two dozen right wing cartoons about Socialism are all totally unrelated coincidences.

If only the right would put a tiny bit of effort into learning what socialism is.

It is hard to effectively debate against something you don’t understand.

It is quite obvious that Varvel, like most of the McCarthyites in the GOP, has no clue whatsoever what ‘socialism’ means – but then he probably thinks anything he doesn’t believe to be true is a communist plot,

At least I’m glad we have a place to come together to discuss our different opinions with civility and respect for each other. No name calling, questions on intelligence, religion, political affiliations or genealogy. Yes. I’m guilty, too. Unable to comprehend why some folk offer that opinion that is “other” than mine. Now I’m going to sit quiet for a while and question my superiority.

Watch the fireworks when the idea of a universal guaranteed income hits!!! What will the non-socialist solution be when millions lose their jobs to automation in the next 10-15 years? Truck drivers. Clerks. Maybe even Political cartoons? Coming soon: algorithms/programs that create political cartoons for any ideology.

Gary Varvel wouldn’t recognize real socialism (or communism, for that matter) if it saved his life… something it’s done for a great many individuals around the world.
