My kind of golf. Any playable ball is mine. If there is more than one playable ball the most advantageous one is mine

Question: Does it take balls to hit someone else’s ball?

(Repeat alert!) I tried diligently to learn how to play golf for 20 years. Lessons, practice on the range and putting greens, everything. All I accomplished in those two decades was to lose golf balls, catch poison ivy, and kill the occasional snake. One day, I threw my bag, clubs and all, into the lake and took up bowling. I can honestly say that I have never lost my ball in a bowling alley. I have never caught poison ivy on any lane I bowled on. And I’ve never encountered a snake while bowling. Whoever said it, as its origin is uncertain, Golf is a lovely walk through the countryside ruined.

If you want to learn about the origins of golf, look up Robin Williams “Golf” on You Tube. SNFW but bust a gut funny.

One of the good things about golf is that you get out in Mother Nature and such. It’s kind of against the spirit of things to have everything on the fairway an in other nice places.

Years ago, I had a buddy who was a professional diver in Florida, who’d contracted with several golf resorts to retrieve the golf balls from their water hazards. It was a very lucrative but somewhat dangerous business – most of those ponds and lakes contained large alligators who didn’t take kindly to being disturbed.

He said that the question he was asked the most about his profession, was not about the dangers of diving with gators, but whether he, himself played golf. ( He didn’t ! ).
