Elvis, of course, “has no idea” that she’s trying to catch his tail. It is a mere coincidence that he’s waving it right in front of her.

Hmmm, since we’re on the topic of names, is there anyone out there who wishes they were given a different first name? I won’t say what my first name is (because we don’t want to go into that identity theft conversation again), but I will say that I have a pretty common name and I’m actually glad it is common! I don’t think I’d like to go through my whole life spelling and explaining my name to everyone!

I love Beatrix batting at Elvis’ tail! Happy Friday y’all! I myself am not too happy, it’s almost 2 a.m. and I am unable to sleep because, as we say around here, my back is still “stove up” and can’t find a comfy position, even with the Sleep Number bed. But Friday is still the best day of the week regardless! ♥

“Cry ’Havoc!’, and let slip the cats of war!"

Actually, I thought it was “Aries” misspelled, so I learned a lot from this today, including the fact that I never knew, that the zodiac signs have days associated with them, and Aries’ is Tuesday. (Remarkable that it’s taken this long to find that out, because I’m an Aries and was born on a Tuesday.)

If the signature is going to be “Gorgeous George”, then I think Elvis would like to be “Killer Kowalski”.

I’m really honoured to get such a warm welcome back yesterday. This means that I’ve done something right in this bad mad world and at least made some people happy enough to be remembered (despite sneaking away with all your picanic baskets.). Thank you one and all, again, I’d give y’all a big hug, but ya know how bear hugs are ;0)

Just kiddin’. Here you go! ((((((((((((((((((((((((( ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Now that you’ve given me such a warm welcome, you’ll all have to bear the hungry n humble ol’ unBearably PunGent me for life ;o)

Now back to Breaking Cat News! I’d call that little kitten Sherry. For she looks like a little tigress to me. (Yes, folks, that was a pun. Sher = Tiger; hence, Sherry).

My male Birman had the call name of “Chance” when I got him (formal name on his papers is “Enchanting Blue Eyes”.) But somehow I couldn’t get used to it. Chance seems more like a dog’s name to me, I think because it was the name of one of the dogs in “The Incredible Journey”. So I started calling him “Chancellor”, which became “John Chancellor”, after the newscaster, and eventually, just “John.” As for what name he would have chosen – probably “Leaper” since he spent most of his youth escaping by leaping off the balcony or out of windows. Thank Cat for pet-proof screen and deer netting, the latter having been laced to the balcony railing with fishing line to create a tiny kitty prison.

My female cat’s name is Stormie, and she wears it proudly, although she is not above answering to “Snuggle-bunny” when she’s feeling mellow.

    DEAREST ORBSTERS

Late yesterday I posted that Paul, Lady Kat’s beloved hubby, has had swelling come back on the side of his face. His oncologist had said the cancer was gone, but our Kat♥Heart says the swelling is growing quickly.

On top of THAT, their grandson wiped out his bike, injuring himself, and maybe losing his job, as that was his transport to work! The bike is a total loss.

Please, please do the magic that is the Mega Orb! We have them hustled to the Mega Core, the best place, beside our wonderful Georgia. Let’s please concentrate love, good karma, positive energy, warm prayers, heart hugs, & everything we’re got to help slay the dragons that beset these dear people!!!

Thank you! I love you all soooooo much!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I’m proud of the name I was given. I was given nicknames as a child but when I became of age I insisted everyone call me by my name. Even to this day, I have to correct people but not so much. My name is unique and given to me by my father. It’s Chinese and means Jade Orchid.

Thank you all for your kind words of yesterday. I’ll definitely ask our family doctor whether this is lymphedema; it would definitely ease my mind if that was the problem.

As for my grandson, his bike was badly damaged, probably beyond repair, he has a broken ankle and three broken ribs. He was working two jobs and has lost them both as he will be out of commission for at least six weeks.

My cousin and her children desperately need an urgent escort to the core of the Mega-Orb following the loss of her husband earlier this week. He was a firefighter of 13 years seniority, and I expect that the services will prove to be a spectacle that I would find much more impressive if I had some emotional distance from it.

I used to be acquainted with a fire-department chaplain, and he said something I’ve never forgotten about the kind of person it takes to be a firefighter. Paraphrasing, you have to be the kind of person willing to run into a building that every other living thing, including the cockroaches, is running out of.

Fairly accurate assessment of the man.

We got a cute little ginger male kitten that would not leave my ankles alone. A few days later when I picked him up I was asked if we had a name for him. Not having one, I said “I’ve got no name”… Yes, his papers read “No Name”. Taking him the vet to get him checked out, they started on their paperwork, and asked his name. As they had the adoption papers in front of them, I of course said “No Name”. They asked again and got the same response from me. The third time, I pointed to the papers and told them that I was not kidding. I don’t think they have it figured out yet. We later decided that he would be henceforth known as “The Duke of Orange”. He now weighs 22 lb, and crawls up to me at night and pushes…

The names humans give are of no consequence. It is the cat name that counts. An author known to some of us has made that clear for years.

Seeker of Dreams. Lionheart. Leaf Catcher. Tree Dancer.

“Racer”, eh? Reminiscent of the 2 AM running of the cats. “Scout” may explain why little Beatrix was out in the void at such a tender age. I can see “Shadowfax” for certain, since the humans claim he is really a very small horse. “Ares, Cat of War” … that may be a bit of a stretch.I adore how little Beatrix is playing with Elvis’ tail; that just makes me smile … I’ve seen my beloved Conan do exactly that for kittens. He turns his back to them and gently brushes his magnificent tail back and forth across the floor for them to stalk and pounce; his front end is grinning from ear to ear, with that lolling tongue of doggy relaxation.

Many of these comments make no sense without knowing your names!

I mentioned the problems with growing up Dennis in the time of Dennis the Menace. But until recently, no one had a prob spelling my first name, except for the occasional French woman (excused, love the pronunciation of Denis). I named my kids with Irish names. Patrick, no problem. Clare, not so much. Clair, Claire seem to be more common.

I have gone through my life spelling my name to everyone (it’s an A on the end and there’s no H) —-and sometimes, when I was a child, defending it from my schoolmates who thought I was a snob to prefer the name I was given to the more common alternative. On the other hand, whenever I’ve met anyone else with my name, it was an immediate introduction and usually resulted in a friendship started with that bond. But those meetings came later in my life. In grade school, when I was being bullied about my name and about the other ways in which I was different, I would have given anything to have another name. Now I realize it wouldn’t have made any difference to the bullies. They bullied me for ALL my differences, the name was just the easiest thing for them to voice.
