I’m reminded of Jackie Gleason as Sheriff Buford T. Justice in 1977’s Smokey and the Bandit replying to his son Junior after Junior says, “Daddy, my hat blew off!” Sheriff Justice says, “I hope yer head was in it!” :-)
Beetle Bailey is another comic charicter who always wears his hat, only one record of when he wasn’t wearing his hat, an early strip when he was in college and a professor ordered him to remove his hat in his class, beetle removes his hat and the professor orders him to put it back on. Here’s a link to the comic, https://www.google.com/search?q=beetle+bailey+without+his+hat&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj975O80qDhAhUD9IMKHdKwCj0QsAR6BAgIEAE&biw=1366&bih=625

I guess Double-D of “Ed, Edd, and Eddy” shares Peter’s sentiments when it comes to a wearing a hat.
