Please remember who makes all the meals in the house. I learned long ago, both at home an in the Navy, do not, repeat, do not “tick off” the one who cooks, (and does the laundry — you never know in what shape it might come back ).
Like most parents, she is bluffing with the count-down thing. (Notice the : 2 1/4, 2 1/2). We finally told our teen, next time we say we’re leaving at a specific time, we mean it. Sure enough – he stayed downstairs playing video games. We drove off at appointed time. Lesson learned. (Probably not legal with small children). Point is: don’t bluff; do it.
