Howard Schultz may have been a lifelong Democrat because of social issues and because Democrats always have a more successful economy (capital and investment markets do better, stable economy, more widespread general prosperity, better employment levels, good for consumer-oriented businesses like his).
But now we see the real Howard Schultz.
First and foremost, he is a billionaire corporatist. He opposes universal public health care (he has his!). He opposes tax reform that gives TAX RELIEF TO THE MIDDLE CLASS and working people and requires billionaires like himself to pay their fair share that they have avoided for 40 years.
So he would rather make a move that would keep Trump and Putin in charge of total political chaos in the destruction of the United States as long as he protects his own personal billions.
We really need to start electing moderates who are not serving in Congress. We really need to clean house. Our present class of clowns have little or no interest in defending the constitution or making life better for most of the people in our country.
I rather suspect that’s his real objective; no chance of winning, so water down the voting. Billionaires of the world, UNITE! You have nothing to lose but your tax breaks, shelters, loopholes, and privilege!
Imagine ranked choice voting. That would freak out Republicans and Democrats – and make this character’s decision to run irrelevant to almost everyone.
(I’m thinking of voting in which ALL candidates are listed, not that perversion of RCV in Maine wherein the Democratic and Republican parties get separate RCV primaries).
I think the American people have learned their lesson with Trump. So tossing in one more braindead idiot of a businessman virtually guarantees a landslide for the Democratic nominee.
If Schultz tries to run as a Democrat, he won’t get the nomination.
If he tries to run as an Independent, he won’t get the votes of party-line Democrats, and I hope the real independents will look at the positions he supports and vote accordingly.
This makes no sense. No Democrat would vote for the corporate fascism Schultz represents. The DNC certainly wouldn’t allow him to represent the party, so running as an Independent would concern only the Republican Party and its ideology.
And, like many Rich Bastards, he probably wants his Slaves Back.
It would make Starbucks so much more Profitable if all he had to do was feed his “Baristas” a bowl of dog food every day and let them sleep on the floor.

Gee, have we ever had a billionaire with no experience in government before? What could go wrong?

The green party will probably pick him as their champion du jour.

How to be successful in business: Maximize profits.
How to do that? Reduce expenses, increase revenues, or both.
So how does that translate to government? Reduce expenses = cut services. Increase revenues = raise taxes.
The last kind of person we should be voting for is one who claims (if not brags) that he’s “a successful businessman”.
And if there were ever any doubt about that, we’re all currently living with Exhibit A.

I’d vote for him, if we can all have free coffee. What do you think?

You know, no one has to vote for him!
