I agree – it WOULD be better if JJ just left.

I have done a lot of funerals and you’d be amazed some of the weird stuff people do at them.

If it wasn’t for the casseroles and booze, you’d never catch me near a funeral.

Is there any significance to the two stars on JJ’s coat, cape, whatever it is?

Notice that the scarf is tied differently in different frames too.

Maybe it’s like Dilbert’s tie – her scarf & his tie express emotions? Or GBT maybe just be bored & is messing with us?

It looks like the stripes on Mike’s tie are synchronized to orientate away from who’s speaking at him.

I find the desire for cremation very self-centered: not only are the worms denied a good meal, but the cremation process generates a lot of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide) that are left for the survivors to deal with.

dook, I agree, that’s why I opted for burial at sea. Fishies and crustaceans get to eat, and I don’t take up any space in a cemetery.

Being Jewish I hate to see people die, but if I don’t really know them that is made up for by a week of great food. My wife who was not Jewish could not understand why I sat Shiva for so many people. I told her it was to make sure there were ten Jewish men the to say Kaddish.

dook: we deny the worms anyway since most caskets (at least in this state0 are set into vaults to prevent toxic runoff from the formaldehyde laced corpse, who the worms wouldn’t touch anyway.

MsngNOLA and dook, conceptually I agree with burial at sea. However, it’s not as easy as it might seem, especially if you live in a landlocked part of the country. And land burial is worse for the environment than cremation because of the very things freeholder said. Most cemeteries require embalming and vaults. If we could just bury people without all the extras, that would be the way for me - but that’s less and less likely.

cdward – burial “without all the extras” is becoming more common where it’s allowed. Google “ecological burial” or “green burial”.

I think this is a new trend, continuing a discussion from yesterday. It seems to me that that’s a reaction to the Pibgorn comments being suppressed. At Pibgorn, you could have long discussions about just anything; and on the weekend, because the strip only appeared during the week, the comments went on for three days. Very often hundreds of them.

Do I miss the Pibgorn comments? Yes, I do, but anything else I want to say should be to McE.

Rina dosen’t think our comments are good enough. She’s been keening over Pibgorn comments for weeks.

I never read it, but you can tell it must be a comic about dyslexics … eh?

Pibgorn is not dyslexic, nor mispelled and it is a GREAT comic. Snarky, beautiflly drawn, and deep with subtext.

Tragically it is the comic author/artist who denies us the commentary. He does not like external influence to be seen, read, or associated with his comic. I guess I can understand it but in the Web 2.0 world it will be seen as “odd” at best by most of us.
