Of course, there are not many states where it is legal to possess, much less use, a flamethrower. Are there any, actually? I’ll have to research now. I know the Mythbusters had a problem even making one for the show in California.

Will a flamethrower be cheaper? Will the fuel be cheaper? But do go on.

The flamethrower doesn’t work well for all of those heat transfer reasons everybody slept through in chemistry and physics. It takes an incredible amount of energy to melt snow and since the heat isn’t contained, most of it escapes without melting anything. Snow blowers might just move it, except the ones with 2-stroke engines won’t start when cold. Electric snow flingers work well if you run them every 4-6 inches of snow and buy the $100 10ga. extension cord.

And they’ll have the added benefit of turning their walkway and driveway into a skating rink.

Cheaper? In the long run, no…

“Hey! Whoa! I’m on fire here, Clayton!”

    “Cool, dad!”

    “No, I’m on fire!”

Just get some extra metal grates from the oven and the BBQ grill and link them together with some exposed extension cord ends connecting them and see what happens (Kids – don’t try this at home).

If they used the deep snow to build a snow fort, they might not even care that they killed their backs. So, instead of shoveling, dig out bricks and build a cool fort just to one side of the driveway.

After the special licenses and liability insurance (and it would be high for Adam), a flamethrower would be far more expensive to own and operate.

I don’t know. How about plenty of safe space.., unless you live in Fahrenheit 451.

The snowblower my wife bought me for Christmas one year would choke on that, but small bites with the shovel, not lifted high, would do the job in time.
