In 1865, Republicans proudly passed the Thirteenth Amendment to prohibit slavery (except as punishment for crime pursuant to due process; i.e., sentenced to “hard labor”).
But then Nixon and Reagan developed their racist “Southern Strategy,” took racism away from the Democrats (whose northern wing had become PROgressive), the former racist Southern Democrats all became RepubliCONs, so now those who like to fly the KKKONfederate flag of slavery, treason and total surrender, also want to violate the Thirteenth Amendment and force workers to work without pay.
Of course, this is how Trump has always run his businesses. Shut them down. Don’t pay workers or contractors. Total destruction and then leave someone else holding the bag.
and besides “everybody” knows those federal employees are democrats and obama/clinton lovers so that makes them less human…..all the best people say so…..
Of course little things like no one has to work, they can go to other jobs or quit and that rather than without pay it is merely deferred are those little facts that interrupt a narrative and are to be ignored. Shocking that work should be a condition of employment but we are talking about federal employees (worker seems an inappropriate term).
The concept of a constitutional democratic republic of the people by the people and for the people conflicts with the resident’s autocratic concept of a kingdom that he alone rules as he pleases. It’s scary that the resident has so many followers who favor a chaotic autocracy over a stable democracy.
The GOP had long contended that a “good businessman” as President is just what the country needed. However, that overlooked the basic fact that operating a government is not like running a business. He’s discovered that Congress and the courts are not under his complete control. As an amateur to government and public service, and as someone well known to ignore the details, and as a business CEO whose word was “law” to his underlings, Mr. Trump’s administration is foundering in its own incompetence.
Since at least the reign of C-Plus Augustus, the GOP model of governance has been based on the organized crime “Bust Out” in which the Mob works its way into an established, respectable business and milks it for every bit of money they can get—placing huge orders for materials, on credit, which they sell off at fire-sale prices; borrowing beyond the limit, promising anything to get more; insuring and burning buildings and assets; walking away from the ashes to do the same thing somewhere else.
This morning something dawned on me: isn’t requiring people to work without pay slavery? So the Republicans, led by the Orangeutan, are slave holders. Wake up, Trump supporters, you’re next.
An NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll published Thursday found that Trump’s approval rating has slipped 3 percent from last month to 39 percent, while his disapproval has climbed 4 percentage points to 53 percent.
And unlike in past political fights, the poll and other recent surveys indicate that some of the groups thought to comprise key parts of Trump’s base are not immune from the broader downward trend.
White evangelicals’ support for Trump, for instance, plunged a net 13 percentage points in the NPR poll, sinking to 66-23 percent approval from 73-17 percent in the December poll. Trump also lost support from noncollege-educated white men, with his approval falling to 50 percent from 56 percent and his disapproval ticking up 1 point to 35 percent.
If the IRS agents aren’t being paid, you have to wonder if a few tax returns might “accidentally” slip out…….then again, there’s not much doubt Mueller already has them!

And Trump is only 3/5 of a mensch, and that’s probably an overstatement.

Crooked liar traitor Trump is going to force IRS employees to work without pay.
The greedy billionaires want their 1.5 trillion dollar tax breaks to be processed.
Isn’t it obvious that Trump is totally insane?
Has Trump ever done anything for anyone for free in his life?
Trump loves meeting with Putin and hiding the notes but he won’t meet with Mueller.
Up yours Trump.
