No, “liberals,” or rather, “non-conservatives” recognize there is a finite amount of money in the world. “Liberals” recognize that money is accumlated, not “made.”
The current “conservative” mode of thinking seems to be that anyone can “make money,” but that those without it are somehow not earning it. They do not take into account that the “very wealthy” are amassing a greater and greater portion of all the available wealth, making it near impossible for anyone else to accumlate any of their own.
Funny thing about that dreaded “liberal” government spending is that when the government spends money, the money has a tendency to go into circulation. When the wealthy get a break, or get ahold of some windfall, it tends to stay in one place.
It was conservative “cost cutters” who said there was no risk in doing the work without any expensive respirators or protection, which most knew WERE needed! Also, I got the impression a lot of these rescuers and workers were NOT NYFD folks, and thus NOT protected by insurance or unions– thus exposed to the cost of their treatment, and deaths, on their own.
There was fair question about the amount in the bill, but remember Rumsfeld and “the army you’ve got”– his view, as long as HE gets HIS profit (just like Tamiflu) who cares about anyone else? Too, too, much of that in the last administration.
