Because for 2 years you and your party held all branches of govt. 3 times you got your money for the wall, but for some reason you vetoed all 3 bills. You are doing this for other reasons and national security isn’t one of them.
There is not now, nor has there been a "National Emergency " at the Southern Border other than the “Humanitarian Emergency” caused by the illegal procedures of the goons and thugs of the Trump Administration, which would be exacerbated by the building of the wall!
If Donnie John is STUPID enough to attempt declaring a “National Emergency” at the Southern Border AND everything MAGICALLY fell into place for the construction to begin (this is NOT going to happen – guaranteed!), then it would take the Army Corps of Engineers AT LEAST a year to a year and a half to get construction planed and approved! This would put the turning of the first shovelful of dirt at the end of Donnie John’s term of office!
And that’s HOW Donnie John’s Magical Wall would deal with a “National Emergency” at the Southern Border – if their WAS one – which there isn’t!
And I would ALSO point out that the legal obstacles erected because of the attempted “eminent domain” confiscation of property to erect a border fence in 2006 STILL has STILL not been resolved. And a number of land owners along where Donnie John wants HIS wall have said, in effect, “Over my dead Body!” And, to this point, the Federal Government does NOT have the Right of Confiscation.
All of this point to the fact that, in any way, shape or form, Donnie John’s “Wall” is a long-range project and in NO WAY would be an answer to anything resembling a “National Emergency”!

People who think that Trump is making a big deal out of the non-existent national emergency and the never-will-be-built continent-wide wall for purely tactical reasons are giving him far too much credit. Yes, of course he wants to distract people from the multiple investigations into his and his cronies’ crimes and/or treason. But Trump’s also delusional enough to believe his own lies, and he is definitely a career crybaby. (Plus, he might also think that the next election is much sooner than it really is, and therefore he’s trying to trot out his tried-and-true “Beware the caravan!” ploy. A lawyer for Paul Whelan, a US citizen charged in Russia with espionage, said on January 3rd that he has filed an appeal in court against Whelan’s detention without bail, which he called unwarranted and excessive. ~ Yet El Supremo has been so busy trolling Jeff Bezos & Liz Warren and screaming about his wall he hasn’t had the time – apparently – to reach out to his boss, Vlad, for help for this US citizen.
So 130 people applaud this cartoon… I don’t get it… Mexico does have murderers and rapists… (check out the news… are you vacationing in Acapulco soon?), and some of them want to slip into the US… and you just don’t care? Is that the joke here? Would you like one or two murderers in your kids’ schools? That wouldn’t bother you? Trump’s advocacy of a secure border is logical. He’s the President. Most Americans agree our borders aren’t secure. Yet you just make fun? Just take an excuse to ridicule the man? … makes no sense. I guess you leave your doors unlocked at night… okay. Up to you. I don’t get it.
By the way, what happened to all those soldiers rushed to the Mexican border in a great hurry just before Thanksgiving? Are they still there? (In any case, it seems to have “worked”; we haven’t heard much about the terrifying menace of mothers and kids from Guatemala lately.)
