Not quite sure what this is supposed to be … Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? If so, it seems Steve Kelley joins Steve Scalise in failing math.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) attended Boston University (where she infamously did a rooftop dance so obscene that the university showed it on the big screen at sporting events and for freshman orientation). While there, she graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s in international relations and a minor in economics.

Oh, and she is the first person in her family to ever graduate from college.

Oh, and she achieved all this while her Daddy died of cancer while she was at college.

Her numbers add up. The 70% top marginal rate she suggested is the same that JFK proposed before his death and LBJ enacted 10 weeks after his death. It remained in effect from 1964 through the 1980’s, one of the most prosperous eras in American history. Kennedy reduced it from the previous 92% top marginal rate under Eisenhower, under whom the top marginal rate was never below 90% and one of the most prosperous eras of broad-based middle class prosperity in U.S. history.

Steve Scalise whined about taxing 70% of someone’s income. Either he does not understand progressive taxes or is intentionally lying. First, it only applies for incomes over TEN MILLION. Second, as with all progressive taxes (including those under Eisenhower, JFK and LBJ), you only pay the top rate on the PORTION of income in that top tier.

Everyone pays exactly the same rate on the portion of income in each bracket. You only pay the higher rates on the PORTION in each higher bracket.

If Steve Scalise does not understand this, he is unqualified to be a congressman.

If he DOES understand it, he is morally and ethically unqualified.

    Same for Steve Kelley.

Steve, you were one of those who believed that slashing taxes for the rich will erase the national debt and that Mexico was going to pay for the wall, and now you’re whining about a little girl not adding 2 and 2 correctly ? Your Math, AND your morality suck.

Guess the teacher has never seen a gerrymandered result before or how a disproportional representation can skew the result. If math, science, and economics were prerequisites to entering Congress we would not have the mismanagement that we have now.

Yes, AOC said a damfool thing in an interview last week. It doesn’t compare to “truth isn’t truth” or “alternative facts” or “fine people” in the neonazi ranks. She’s got a long long way to go to catch Sarah Huckabee Sanders. And she’s a better dancer. (Art trumps artlessness.)

Lets do republican math, borrow 1.5 trillion to give billionaires tax breaks

make the tax payer pay for it and tell him there is no money for human services.

This new congressperson is an idiot – I’ve followed her statements – I cannot believe she ever went to school, let alone graduated from college. I have a Master’s Degree and it took a lot of hard work and I did not come out of the university spouting views that are mostly emotional and not based on facts. For instance, I don’t believe there are three chambers of Congress….just one of her MANY stupid statements.

It’s hard for me to believe that Steve Kelley graduated from Dartmouth. (But then it’s hard for me to believe that Stephen Miller holds a degree from Duke.) I guess it’s evidence that even the best of schools fails to instill critical thinking in some of their students.

In the racist, bigoted, misogynistic world conservatives live in, math, or anything else a non-white, non-male, non-christian member of our Legislature demonstrates is automatically attacked and derided.

I didn’t know that AOC was a believer in the Laffer curve. It’s the reason we are borrowing two trillion dollars a year.Steve, Tell your republican buddies to balance the budget for the first time in their history before you start questioning any of the Dems math.

Seriously, Can anyone tell me when the last time a Republican had a balanced budget?

@JHayes, it was Eisenhower, for two years in the mid-1950s. He had even higher taxes than even AOC is calling for and initiated a half-a-trillion dollar, in today’s values, infrastructure project. And he kicked Nazi ass, rather than kissing it.
