You need clamps, a battery powered screw gun or impact driver, and 7/8" screws so there is no trauma and you can clean it out in the fall. A 16 ga. brad nailer works well, too.
The Audubon society prefers the birdhouses not to have perches because it provides a way for predators to catch the birds, who are perfectly capable of flying into the opening without a perch.

Can anyone explain what “EXIT” plywood is? I know about “exterior” and “interior” plywood are, but have never heard of “exit plywood”
