I googled Jack Dempsey. In his boxing career, he went 60 wins, 7 losses, 8 ties; though his career had some ups and downs. He quit boxing about 1940. So, “Dempsey in his prime” would put Li’l Abner at a time somewhere in the forties. He weighed less than 200 pounds, but knocked out 50 opponents. His photos are a little scary. I wouldn’t want to fight him, or Mamie Yokum.
