We, seniors, do ask ourselves those existential questions " Why m I here ? " and " What did I come here for ? " quite frequently upon entering a room, opening a drawer or a door, with one exception – the bathroom ! We know the answers there.
“They” say your mind tends to “reset” to the purpose of the room you enter. I keep my shopping list on the fridge, so if I go into the kitchen to jot down – oh, say, toilet paper – my mind drops that when I step through the door. Don’t use TP in the kitchen. Must be here for another reason.

Well, you might as well have a snack while you try to remember.

The only way to remember what you came into a room for is to start to walk out and come back in. Usually works for me anyway.

Why do I feel like the last panel should have morphed Earl and Opal back into Calvin and Susie playing Pickles?

A fine example of Earl pondering the Here After. . . Something all of us seniors ponder way too frequently.

I would if I could remember where she hid the snacks

Very many people do that due to very busy minds.

If it was my “Earl” it would be for a snack. But normally food isn’t the one thing he forgets about.
