well, Gordon, isn’t a good thing you didn’t ask Allyson out to the dance with you?

Back in my day it wouldn’t have been a proper dance without some beer or a mickey of rum or whatever outside the gym.

The boys who are providing and drinking the booze probably don’t even attend the same school as the girls. They are clearly older than the girls and are up to no good.Surely the parents have had a good talk with the girls and guys about this sort of thing. The girls should be phoning theirparents….immediately…as well as the school chaperones. But……will they????

Welcome to high school. Learning ain’t just for the class room. On a different note, passing a bottle doesn’t seem so bad compared to what they seem to be passing around to day.

Let’s hope the worst thing to happen is puking their guts out and a HUGE hangover.

    Lynn’s Comments:

We called the space behind a fence near the school goal post “the smokers union.” It was in this darkened corner that we all took turns choking on Lucky Strikes or sipping wine from jam jars.

Oh, you will get acquainted with that bottle soon enough, Michael, especially if you grow up to be a writer. Alcoholism is as common to journalists as steroid use is to Navy SEALs and Canadian sprinters.

I wasn’t interested in the crowd who would do the drinking. I saw how a few innocent drinks turned my kind dad into someone I didn’t want to be near. He ruined many of my childhood Christmases, being first drunk so he crawled home on Christmas eve, to being hung over and sick all Christmas day.

One girl out there with three guys and alcohol. Might be good for her that somebody is watching.

This has to be a disappointment for Michael. He was hoping for some Valentine’s Day-style action. Watching kids drink will be dull in comparison. Will it be enough to maintain his attention? My guess is the answer is “No.”

For us it was Wild Irish Rose or some flavor of MD 20/20 mixed with soda. In the band bus headed to the game. Made marching pretty trippy…

I remember in high school that everyone knew who the “bad” guys and girls were. Michael and Gordon are just finding out now.

Why is this making out beer to be so EVIL for Canadians?? I know they’re youngster and all but…“Strange Brew”! (lol..JK) If Mike had some Horton’s he would be in with the cool crew!

My grandson said that half the kids in his 8th grade class smoked pot. And that was 8 years ago!

When I was in high school, I strictly stayed away from any drinking parties, except for once. On senior ditch day, I was persuaded to drink some wine. Only maybe 12 or 14 ounces or so, but since I never drank, it had quite an effect on me. Back at home, eating supper, I was convinced that I was totally cool, and that my parents didn’t suspect a thing. Until I dumped my entire plate of food on my lap! No more drinking for me in high school!
