The good thing about an authoritarian society is that it’s efficient. The bad thing is that it’s not very creative, nor very responsive to changing situations at the lower levels. I am hoping that there’s enough democracy left in the USA so we can shift a little (at a time) toward being responsive to the needs of the general population. “They” are pushing as hard as they can in the opposite direction.
