Ohhhhh, this looks like an homage to early Bloom County… When the elves went on strike like the air traffic controllers (unionized as PATCO, the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization) did in 1981. Reagan fired them. Santa’s elves went on strike with their union PETCO (Professional Elves Toy-Making and Craft Organization), demanding higher wages, a hot tub in the locker room, and “short broads." Reagan intervened here, too, firing the elves and replacing them with the fired air traffic controllers……
